CULTUS LAKE—CUPE Local 458 workers have ratified a new three-year collective agreement at Cultus Lake Park.
The Park workers and the Park Board have a new deal which expires on Dec. 31, 2013. Included in the package are wage increases of two per cent in each of the three years. The agreement also includes increased compensation for first aid attendants and general improvements to the language including better protection on benefit coverage.
CUPE 458 president Bryan Bickley says the local “is pleased to reach a deal that is in line with settlements achieved in neighboring communities. We still have some ground to make up with regards to wages, but our members recognize the current economic difficulties facing the Park and hope to achieve these goals during future negotiations. We are looking forward to building on our relationship with the Park Board.”
CUPE 458 represents 10 fulltime inside and outside workers at Cultus Lake Park who provide public services in the Park office including clerical, building inspection, and bylaw enforcement. 458 members in the public works department are responsible for, drinking water distribution, waste water processing, roads and building maintenance, grounds maintenance, custodial and many more services. (Unionized seasonal employees are added during the summer).
