Support locked-out UFCW workers—shop elsewhere!

VANCOUVER—UFCW 1518 is asking all union members and the general public to respect its picket lines at the downtown Marketplace IGA store (#110-909 Burrard Street) after the employer locked out its members on July 29.

The main issues in the dispute are wage increases, benefits for part-time workers, and positions that are filled out of seniority.

Until the dispute is resolved, the union is asking downtown residents and visitors to respect its picket lines by shopping at the following alternate locations:

Safeway:  1766 Robson Street and 1641 Davie Street

Urban Fare:  1133 Alberni Street, 305 Bute Street and 177 Davie Street

Shoppers Drug Mart:  1125 Davie Street

Super Valu:  1255 Davie Street
