Tentative deal reached at the Vancouver Art Gallery

VANCOUVER—The Vancouver Art Gallery (VAG) and the CUPE members who work there have reached a tentative agreement.

“We are pleased to announce that we have concluded negotiations and have achieved a fair and reasonable agreement for the dedicated staff at the VAG,” says CUPE 15 president Paul Faoro. “While this round of negotiations was difficult we believe we were able to achieve positive gains which will benefit our members and the VAG moving forward.”

The new agreement is effective January 1, 2011 and will expire June 30, 2017 and includes modest wage increases in each year of the agreement as well as improved consultation regarding the relocation to a new gallery and improvements to working conditions.

CUPE 15’s ratification vote will take place April 16, 2013. CUPE represents 120 employees including clerical, curatorial, membership, public program and installation staff at the gallery.
