VANCOUVER—CoDevelopment Canada’s annual film festival, Just Film, has a new venue for 2016. After 14 years at Vancouver’s Langara College, the popular documentary film festival and social justice bazaar (February 11-13) has moved downtown to the Van City Theatre.
The Friday night double feature this year is “Uyghurs: Prisoners of the Absurd” (Patricio Henríquez, China/Guantanamo, Cuba, 2014, 98 min) and “The Troublemaker” (Roberto Salinas, Nicaragua/USA/Italy, 2014, 82 min). The festival-closing feature on Saturday night is the much anticipated “Valentino’s Ghost: Framing the Arab Image” (Michael Singh, USA/Middle East, 2015, 100 min).

In addition to screenings held in Courtenay on February 5 and 6, the festival will also be held this season in Nanaimo (Feb 19-21), Grand Forks (Feb 26-28), Kelowna (March 3-6), and Prince George (March 11-20). There will also be fall screenings in Duncan (October 7-9), and out of province in Winnipeg (November 4-6).
