CUPE rallies in support of BC teachers

BURNABY—CUPE members from across BC will take a stand with BC teachers in their fight against Bill 22 and for free collective bargaining. Many will be in Victoria for the rally at the BC Legislature on Tuesday, but check out the list below for a rally near your own community.

Tuesday, March 6

Campbell River – March from Carihi High School (350 Dogwood St.) to Phoenix Middle School (400 7 Avenue) beginning at 12:00 pm.

Castlegar – At Spirit Square in front of City Hall at 12:00 pm.

Courtenay – School District 71 office (607 Cumberland Road) at 12:00 pm.

Cranbrook – MLA Bill Bennett’s Constituency Office at 100 Cranbrook Street North at 12:00 pm MST.

Creston – In front of the Panago Pizza in Creston at 12:00 pm.

Elkford – Across the street from the schools at 2500 Balmer Drive at 12:00 pm MST.

Fernie - Across the street from the High School on Fairway Drive at 12:00 pm MST.

Golden – At the Golden Cenotaph at 12:00 pm MST.

Grand Forks – At Gyro Park at 12:00 pm.

Invermere – At Pothole Park at 12:00 pm MST.

Kamloops – Scotia bank parking lot at Sahali Mall (corner of Summit and Columbia) at 12:15 pm.

Kelowna – Dayton Street Overpass (located adjacent to the Parkinson Recreation Centre between Burtch Road and Spall Road) at 12:00 pm.

Kimberley – At the Kimberley Plaza at 12:00 pm MST.

Midway – Along Highway 3 running through Midway from 12:00 pm to 1:00pm.

North Vancouver – Caravan from Centennial Theatre to MLA Naomi Yamamoto’s office (126 E. 15th St.) beginning at 11:50 am at Centennial Theatre.

Penticton – Kings Park parking lot on Eckhart for a joint rally/march with local teachers at 12:00 pm.

Prince George – MLA Shirley Bond’s Constituency Office (1350 5th Ave.) at 12:00 pm.

Richmond – Richmond School Board Office (7811 Granville St.) at 12:00 pm.

Salmon Arm – MLA George Abbott’s Constituency Office (371 Alexander St. NE) at 12:00 pm.

Smithers – Mountain Goat Statue on Highway 16 at 12:00 pm.

Sparwood – Across the street from the schools on Pine Avenue at 12:00 pm MST.


Wednesday, March 7

Langley – Langley Teachers Rally at the Langley Events Centre (7888 - 200th Street, Langley) 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Nelson – Rally in front of the government buildings from 12:00 to 1:00 pm.

Port Alberni – Rally at the Steelworkers hall 4:15 pm.

Trail – Rally at the School Board office in conjunction from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.

Vancouver – Rally at the Vancouver Art Gallery (Hornby & Georgia) at 2:00 pm.

Vernon - At the bottom of Hospital Hill (HWY 97 and 25th Ave.) from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
