Mark Hancock

Mark Hancock is Secretary Treasurer of CUPE BC. He was first elected to the position in 2005, winning re-election in 2007 and 2009.  Prior to that he served on the CUPE BC executive board for 12 years in various capacities, including six years as a General Vice-President.  A CUPE member since 1984, Hancock was the president of Local 498, Port Coquitlam Municipal Employees, for 15 years. 

Hancock chaired numerous CUPE BC committees prior to being elected as Secretary-Treasurer, including eight years as chair of the Political Action Committee.  He also chaired the Municipal Committee, the Transportation Committee, the Universities Committee and the Young Workers Task Force.  Hancock also currently serves on the CUPE BC Strong Communities Working Group.

In 2009, Hancock was elected to the CUPE National Executive Board representing British Columbia as a Regional Vice-President.  He was the first chair of the CUPE National Political Action Committee and is currently the National Union’s Liaison to the Global Justice Committee.  He also represents CUPE BC on the BC Federation of Labour Executive Council.  He is also a member of the United Way Labour Committee.

Hancock and his wife Heather live in Anmore with their children, Kaden and Kiara.
