BURNABY—Representatives of CUPE’s Community Health Services and Support members are set to begin talks with the employer this week.

Delegates to a bargaining convention in October put wages and benefits at the top of the priority list.

RICHMOND—Members of local 15, 1978, 3495 and 4816 came together October 14 to discuss current issues in the healthcare field and identify CUPE's bargaining priorities for the upcoming round of negotiations. 

The morning started with a welcome from CUPE BC secretary-treasurer Mark Hancock. Guest speaker Mike Farnworth, MLA for Port Coquitlam and the Opposition Health Critic, followed by speaking about healthcare in B.C. and the direction it is going.

BURNABY — CUPE 15 members have also voted strongly against a proposed agreement in the Health Science Professionals sector.

The two-year deal features no general wage increase and no new money.

Members of CUPE Local 15, representing workers with Vancouver Coastal Health, voted 95% against the proposed agreement.

“Members were disappointed with some of the proposed trade-offs in the tentative agreement, particularly the loss of a vacation day and the red-circling of many of our jobs,” explained CUPE 15 president Paul Faoro.

BURNABY—Members of CUPE 4816 who work with Fraser Health Authority in Burnaby and New Westminster voted unanimously against a proposed agreement in the Health Science Professionals sector.

“It was a strong turnout,” said CUPE 4816 president Frank de Waard.

VANCOUVER—Voting locations and dates have now been set for CUPE members who are part of the Health Sciences Professionals Bargaining Association.

VANCOUVER—After more than nine months of bargaining, a tentative agreement was reached on December 22, 2010 between the Health Science Professionals Bargaining Association and Health Employers’ Association of BC.

Health science professionals are members of the modern health care team who deliver clinical, diagnostic and rehabilitation services in hospitals and communities throughout the province.

This agreement was negotiated under the B.C.

VANCOUVER–The Health Science Professionals Bargaining Association continues to meet with the Health Employers Association of BC to negotiate a new collective agreement.

Two weeks ago, the union association served notice to the employer that a concessionary package is completely unacceptable to health science professionals.

Discussions have continued and the unions are optimistic that HEABC and the government have received the message that the contribution of health science professionals delivering modern health care in the public health care system must not be discounted.

VANCOUVER—After eight months of bargaining for a new collective agreement, the Health Employers Association of BC (HEABC) last week finished tabling proposals amounting to significant concessions for the province’s health science professionals’ collective agreement.
