If you are a CUPE member in the Community Social Services sector who is affected by precarious work—employment that is insecure, unprotected, lacking in regular work and/or benefits, and that cannot support a family—your union wants to hear from you.
The Community Social Services Bargaining Association (CSSBA), including CUPE, is working together with the Community Social Services Employers’ Association (CSSEA) to study the extent of precarious work in the sector.
To gather this information, the “Precarious Work Survey” will be launched on November 14. After being notified by e-mail with a link to the survey, members will be encouraged to share their thoughts and experiences concerning this important issue.
This survey is the result of the work carried out by the Precarious Work Committee – a joint committee whose purpose is to examine the effects of precarious work, part-time and casual employment on employees and the continuity of care in the sector. The committee and its work are governed by the language agreed to by the Parties in Memorandum of Agreement #15 Re: Precarious Work, Part-time and Casual Employment Committee.COPE 491
