VANCOUVER-With thousands of visiting athletes and activists in town for the OutGames and human rights conference, members of CUPE BC's Pink Triangle working group and other LGBT activists from CUPE took time out earlier this week to discuss issues affecting sexual minorities today.

VANCOUVER – Organizers are calling National Aboriginal Day celebrations held in Vancouver’s Oppenheimer Park yesterday the best yet – and the second of many more to come.  This is the second year for the event and CUPE was once again a major sponsor.

The five-hour celebration featured a full slate of music, dancing and singing for a crowd of hundreds (see our photo gallery).

VANCOUVER—The run up to tomorrow’s National Aboriginal Day was held Saturday at Oppenheimer Park in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. Events centred on kids with face painting, storytelling and hoop dancing.  Visit the CUPE BC gallery for photos from Aboriginal Kids’ Day.

Tomorrow the celebration continues at Oppenheimer (440 Powell Street) as one of the events taking place across the country. This year’s theme is Respect, Honour and Kindness.

RICHMOND—CUPE human rights activists are gearing up for a big conference (“Human Rights – Making it Happen,” November 18-20) which opens next week at the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel in Richmond.
