CUPE 116 sees red at UBC

VANCOUVER—CUPE universities job action continues this week with overtime bans and picket lines at UBC. CUPE 116 at the University of British Columbia set up picket lines early Tuesday morning shutting down the General Services Administration Building (GSAB) and Mary Bollert Hall.

Two weeks scheduled for health science professionals bargaining

VANCOUVER—In the wake of tentative agreements reached in the master provincial government workers’ (BCGEU) and nurses’ bargaining (NBA), the Health Science Professionals Bargaining Association (HSPBA) and Health Employers Association of BC (HEABC) return to the bargaining table this week.

BC Assessment workers vote for job action

Wages falling behind competitive public and private positions, says CUPE 1767

RICHMOND—CUPE 1767, representing 610 workers for BC Assessment, have voted 81 per cent in favour of job action. The strike vote, announced at the union’s AGM on September 29, was taken following several months of sporadic bargaining sessions in which no progress was made at the table. Negotiations began in mid-December last year.
