Stop health care privatization
Delegates demanded a halt to health care privatization with a strengthened emergency resolution 1 yesterday. They put the Campbell Liberals on notice that CUPE will defend members and communities hit by privatization. They urged that our water systems remain public (20) and made health benefit coverage a local bargaining priority (31).

Composite resolutions condemned the treaty referendum (1), opposed the G8 summit (2), confirmed support for recall campaigns and for labour-friendly candidates in the Nov. 16 elections (5 and 8) and called for improved childcare (10). Amended resolution 101 calls for reinstating welfare payments to single parents.

Executive board resolution 1 installs former president Mike Dumler as a life-time member of CUPE BC.
